Ingredients

1. Gui Zhi9g
2. Shao Yao9g
3. Sheng Jiang9g
4. Da Zao12 pieces
5. Zhi Gan Cao6g

Indication

Externally contracted wind-cold leading to an exterior cold deficient condition. Fever and chills with sweating, aversion to wind, headache, nasal congestion, stiff neck, dry heaves, no specific thirst. Tongue coat is thin, white, and moist. Pulse is floating and either moderate or frail.
May also be used for a similar presentation in patients recovering from serious illness or after childbirth.

Contraindication

1. Exterior cold and interior heat, characterized by fever and thirst or sore throat with a rapid pulse.
2. Use with caution in the summer or during hot weather
3. If prescribed in cases with heat, nosebleed may result.
4. If incorrectly prescribed, profuse sweating, high fever, severe thirst, palpitations and irritability may result. In such cases, Bai Hu Jia Ren Shen Tang is prescribed.
