Ingredients

1. Gua Di3g
2. Chi Xiao Dou3g

Indication

In this condition, phlegm clogs the diaphragm and upper chest, or stagnant food lodges in the upper epigastrum. There may be firm areas of glomus in the chest, vexation, difficulty breathing, and possibly a sensation of Qi rushing to the throat. Pulse is slightly floating at the distal position.

Contraindication

1. Gua Di is cold, bitter, and toxic: use with caution in weak patients
2. Contraindicated when phlegm is not lodged in the chest, or when food has already passed into the intestines
3. If constant vomiting happens, give 0.3-0.6g of Ding Xiang, or one-tenth that amount of She Xiang
