2. Di Gu Pi30g
3. Zhi Gan Cao3g
4. Geng Mi15-30g

Indication

Treats constrained heat in the Lungs, manifesting as coughing, wheezing, and fever with skin that feels hot to the touch. These symptoms will worsen in the afternoon. Other symptoms include dry mouth and scanty sputum. Tongue is red with yellow coat, pulse is thin and rapid

Preparation note: The original directions are to grind the first three ingredients to a powder and cook with the Geng Mi (rice). Today this is prepared as a decoction with proportionate reduction in ingredients.

Contraindication

1. Contraindicated for coughing and wheezing due to wind-cold, wind-heat, or damp-phlegm.
