Ingredients

1. Gua Lou3g
2. Xie Bai3g
3. Bai Jiu24g

Indication

This formula is for chest bi which results from lack of movement of chest Yang, leading to internal accumulation of phlegm and failure of qi transformation. The syndrome is marked by pain in the chest which radiates to the upper back, wheezing, cough with copious sputum and shortness of breath. The tongue coat is thick and greasy. The pulse is either submerged and wiry or tight.

Contraindication

1. This formula is warm, drying, and dispersing. It should not be used long-term or for cases of chest pain due to Lung consumption or phlegm-heat.
2. If liquor is contraindicated, either reduce the amount or leave it out altogether.
