Indication

For both exterior (taiyang) and interior (taiyin) signs: aversion to cold, fever, perspiration, abdominal fullness, distention and pain, and diarrhea.

Contraindication

1. Contraindicated in most cases with exterior cold and interior heat, characterized by fever and thirst or sore throat with a rapid pulse. It should not be given to patients with internal heat, as nosebleeds may result. It is also contraindicated in patients with internal damp-heat. It should be used with caution during the summer or spells of hot weather.
