Action / Indication

1. Dries dampness and dissolves phlegm: used to dry out stubborn phlegm lurking in the Lungs, causing cough and stifling sensation in the chest.
2. Extinguishes wind and dissolves phlegm in the channels: used to treat vertigo, numbness of the limbs, facial paralysis, muscular spasms and cramps, opisthotonos, stroke, seizures, or tetany.
3. Reduces swelling and relieves pain: used to treat contusions, nodules, tumors, and swollen joints.

Contraindication

This herb is extremely drying and is contraindicated for those with=> yin deficiency, dry phlegm, Lung heat, dryness, and during pregnancy. Direct contact with this herb may irritate the skin. Internal use may cause drowsiness or sedation. Never use the unprocessed form of this herb; it is highly toxic.

Dosages

4.5-9g, pre-processed with ginger. May use up to 15g for tumors.

1. Tian Nan Xing is toxic and practitioners must be careful not to exceed the recommended dosage.
2. Tian Nan Xing is famous for addressing Wind-Phlegm which is common in many facial paralysis cases.
