1. Clears heat and resolves fire toxicity: primarily for dysenteric disorders, especially those due to damp-heat in the Stomach or Intestines.

Contraindication

Diarrhea or dysentery due to cold (with pale watery blood, and other cold signs). This herb is poisonous fresh; only use it in its dried form. Dried, it is very safe, when used properly for heat in the Large Intestine, as directed.

1. There are two types of Bai Tou Weng that is available in the U.S. One that is common to Northern Chinese and one to Southern Chinese.
2. Bai Tou Weng has claim to fame is treating damp heat dysentery and diarrhea. Often used together with Huang Lian and Mu Xiang.
