Pao Zhi

Calcined to enhance its ability to restrain, inhibit and bind; it is often used for nightsweats, spontaneous sweating, spermatorrhea, vaginal discharge, uterine bleeding, chronic diarrhea or dysenteric disorders. It also strengthens its ability to generate flesh and may be applied topically to help in the closure of non-healing sores.

Action / Indication

1. Restores the Shen: used to treat restlessness, insomnia, anxiety, aggitation, jumpiness, palpitations, forgetfulness, and mania.
2. Clears Liver heat and anchors rising yang: used to treat Liver yin deficiency with yang rising causing such symptoms as dizziness, vertigo, bad temper, deviated mouth and eyes, and facial paralysis.
3. Astringes fluids: used to prevent leakage of fluids due to defiency conditions, causing: spermatorrhea, spontaneous sweating, night sweats, nocturnal emissions, clear vaginal discharge, and excessive pale uterine bleeding.
4. Heals the skin: use topically, calcined, to heal stubborn ulcerative sores and eczema.
