Action / Indication

1. Clears heat from the blood and stops bleeding: used to clear damp-heat from the Large Intestine to treat bleeding hemorrhoids and blood in the stool, and used to treat other bleeding conditions due to heat, such as: excessive menstrual bleeding, nosebleed, and hematuria. It's action is primarily in the lower jiao.
2. Clears heat from the Liver: used to treat red eyes, dizziness, hypertention, and headache due to Liver heat or fire.

Contraindication

Spleen or Stomach deficiency cold.

Dosages

6-15g, decocted. Dry-fry to protect against cold Stomach. Char to stop bleeding. To clear Liver fire, Huai Hua Mi may be taken alone, or combined with Ju Hua and Xia Ku Cao, as a daily tea.

1. Huai Mi's claim to fame is to clear damp heat in the stool. It is often times used with Di Yu.
2. Charring Huai Mi can enhance its stop bleeding ability. However, its blood cooling ability is lost when charred.
